Our Approach

Combining classroom experience, kinesiology, and student-centred instruction to deliver residencies that are organized, inclusive, and joyful.

We integrate purpose and compassion into our programming, combining it with years of experience in instruction and years of education across education, health, and movement. We ensure our programs are paced to promote learning and skill acquisition with considerations the developmental age of our participants. We adapt on the fly to the particular challenges students face that day, ensuring they have the tools and skills they need to grow and develop.

How we Stumbled into this

Stumble Up Gymnastics began when Joanne was teaching at a school that hosted a gymnastics residency led by Dani Altiere. Seeing the impact on students sparked something meaningful.

We are proud to continue Dani Altiere Residencies programming and carry it forward for the next generation of students — preserving its integrity while expanding thoughtfully for the future.

Sometimes the best ideas begin with a stumble.

Our Team

Coach Joanne

Over the past five years, I have had the opportunity to teach in schools across Edmonton, working with diverse student populations, learning needs and classroom environments. I have honed in my classroom management and instructional skills, and developed a passion for connection with students.

I strongly believe that all kids learn through play and movement. From working as a play facilitator in South East Asia, to working as an Aid for a person with Cerebral Palsy, to teaching in a classroom, I enjoy helping all kids build their confidence through movement-based learning and active participation. I have witnessed first hand how powerful movement and play can be in building trust, confidence, and meaningful connections.

Coach Krzys

I have a litany of hobbies, roles, and positions all geared towards movement, recreation, and community. I adore working with youth to discover how movement relates to overall health and promotes individual growth.

From summer camps, to youth work, to high-risk recreation, I create spaces in which children can learn in safe environments, promoting curiosity and play. I love working with kids to help them develop their kinesthetic awareness and learn how to move their bodies, especially during times of rapid growth and development. I love to see the growth and resiliency they gain through movement in a kind and patient environment.
